1. 簡單過去未來式表示對于過去某一時間而言,即將或預計要發生的動作或存在的狀態。簡單過去未來式多用于主要子句中的述語動詞為過去式的賓語子句。

2. 簡單過去未來式由should (would) +原形動詞構成。

But today she called me that she would go abroad to study soon.

但她今天給我打電話說她很快要出國留學。

She said she would go to America.

她說她將要去美國。

We wanted to know when we would start the opening ceremony.

我們想知道我們什么時候舉行開幕式。

3. 表示過去未來發生的動作可用was (were) + going +不定詞表示。

But you said you were going to see her next week.

但是你說下周要去見她。

He said he was going to teach us next term.

他說他下學期將教我們。

4. was (were) +about to +原形動詞表示過去即將發生的動作,一般不帶時間副詞。

We were about to get home, when it began to rain cats and dogs.

我們快要到家了,這時候下起了傾盆大雨。

5. was (were) to+原形動詞表示在過去安排或計劃好的即將發生動作,可帶時間副詞。

I told you yesterday that I was to see Mary.

我昨天告訴你我要去見瑪麗。

She was to see him the next day.

她第二天將見他。

6. arrive, begin, come, end, go, leave, start等動詞的簡單過去式可表示在過去安排或計劃好的未來的動作。

He said the next new school year began on September 1.

他說下一個新學年九月一日開始。

She informed me the meeting ended next Saturday.

她通知我會議將在下星期六結束。

7. arrive, begin, come, drive, fly, go, leave, start, stay等動詞可用過去進行式表過去即將發生的動作。

My aunt called me that she was coming to see me.

我的姨媽給我打電話說她要來看我。

He asked her if they were leaving there.

他問她是不是他們要離開那里。
