emerge,immerge
這一組詞的讀音完全相同。念/i’m+: :DN/,又都是動詞,但意義恰好相反。
Emerge的意思是“露出”、“出現(to come out or come into view),一般用以指從某物之后(下)露出;它亦可用作比喻意,指困難、問題、事實等顯現出來。emerge的名詞是emergence.例:
After a spell of wet days,the sun emerges from behind the clouds today.
一連下了幾天雨,今天太陽從云后出現了。
The diver emerged from the water at last.
潛水員終于浮出了水面。

注:在現代英語中,immerse 比 immerge用得普遍,因為后者是前者的古體。
